Is the drive partitioned and formatted? If not, it needs to be. Other
than that I can't give you any more specific help since you've told us
nothing about the drive and your computer.

Milke,

Thank you for the reply.

Sorry didn't give enough info.

Yes, it was partitioned. When I right click on the drive in device manager,
I have an option to delete the partion but other then this option, I can't
format it or do anything else. Furthermore, I was given this drive together
with others and told to find out what were on them.

Boot the system with the drive attached using a rescue CD like Knoppix
(Linux) or a Bart's PE. If the files can't be seen from the rescue CD,
the partition on the drive is corrupted and/or the drive is physically
bad. You can test the drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from
the drive mftr.'s website. You will create a bootable CD with the file
you download. You will need third-party burning software to do this such
as Roxio, Nero, or the free CDBurnerXP Pro.

Boot with the CD you made and do a thorough test of the drive. If it
fails any physical tests, replace it.
