Disk I/O error. Status = 000000008

While trying to install Windows 2000 on a newly built
machine I get the following error:

Disk I/O error. Status = 000000008

The error message occurs during the installation reboot
after partitioning and file copying is done.

I have replaced the hard drive and still get the same
error.

What are the possibilities? What can I try?

This might be problem with your disk controller or hard disk configuration.
Is BIOS the latest version? Does the controller support BIOS INT13
extensions? Is the partition larger than 7.8GB? Is the disk configured as
primary master if IDE? Do you have a Zip drive attached?

It might also be a problem with the disk adapter driver, if Win2000
misdetects it during setup. You might need a driver for it on a floppy,
press F6 just after you start Win2000 Setup, and add the driver from the
floppy.

Best regards
