Disk Defragmenter

I'm new to Windows Vista. Do you have to turn off background/wallpaper and
screen savers when running the defragmenter?

No, the defragmenter has been set to run in the background and to pause when
the system is in use. It takes it longer to run this way, but It will
eventually finish. This makes it an automatic process that you do not need
to even worry about any longer.

Open Help and Support and search for Defragment to see how you can set
the schedule for starting the utility.
