disk cleanup

My computer basically froze when I entered disk cleanup
in XP. I was able to get to check the CPU usage and it
indicated I was using 100% of my processing power. This
was after it was "analying" my disk for over ten minutes.
Oddly enough I went to another computer of mine running
XP and went to disk cleanup and event though it didn't
freeze, it immediately rebooted. Oviously I must have
something configured wrong but I haven't even heard of
this before. Anybody know?

I don't like Disk Cleanup. I see it hang systems a lot, primarily when there
is a lot of cleaning todo; and it often doesn't do a very good job of
cleaning. I think it's a good idea that never got developed very well, and
doesn't compensate for some situations.

I recommend people to a manual cleaning instead. The most efficient (best
results for least effort, solves most problems) in my experience is the
simple protocol in Step No. 4 ("Taking out the trash") here:
