Disk Cleanup

[Shirley confused]

I recently purchased a used Dell Latitude
laptop with windows 2K os. When I try to
run disk cleanup it looks like it is running
but only gets to about 3 bars and that's all.

I let it run all night once and it was still
at 3 bars in the morning.

Any ideas as to how to fix this problem?

Run chkdsk with no parameters. If it finds problems, run
chkdsk /f /r
(You may have to reboot to do this. If chkdsk asks, say yes.)
If it reports no problems, your file structures are OK.

If the disk is almost full, get rid of unnecessary files. Empty the
recycle bin too.

Then try again. If the proiblem remains, post in this thread again with
as much info as you can.

Thanks for the info.

I did do the chkdsk and there were no problems found but disk cleanup still
hangs.
I will give this a try also as I am sure everything I can do will help.
