Disk Cleanup does not complete

Hi, I'm running XP, and lately I have not been able to
successfully run my "disk cleanup". I start it and it can
run for 10 hours or more and never complete. When I try
to cancel it locks up and I have to reboot? Any ideas how
I can fix this? Everything else in maintenance works
fine. Thanks for any solid help, Sky

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
