disk clean-up

this relates to ridding the disk of temp files or the
sort. My question is, under the options listed in the
disk clean-up one of them is the old compressed files. Is
it safe to delete the old compressed files?

That option does not delete any files.
Old files are compressed, nothing more.

Unless you are desperate for disk space, there is no need to compress files.
I would un-check it in clean-up.
