Disk Clean Catalog Files

Desperately need help!! I ran the disk clean utility and selected to delete
the catalog files for the content index. XP deleted a number of desk top
icons, program files and user files. It sems to have left some the file
structures in place and deleted the majority of program and user files within
them.

How can I recover these files?

Hi,

You can recover files with data recovery tools. The most powerful of
them are imho Active@ Undelete and Uneraser (for DOS). I've used them
before and can say they are really reliable. You should definately give
it a try.

Hi,

thanks for the response and the suggestion. I did attempt to recover files
using Restoration, a freeware product and it did retrieve a number fo the
files. Also took th opportunity to reinstall XP from scratch and convert to
NTFS. Now in the process of re-establishing supplementary programs.
