disk checker keeps restarting

I have a strange problem each time I run disk checker after windowsxp
crashes andIlet it run it takes serveral hours to complete and once
done it starts disk checker from scratch again. I did a virus check
and found 8 trojans named Troj...small .. I deleted them then I
started having these problems

anybody seen these symptoms b4 or could my disk checker be permanently
damaged by these trojans?

You might try using "System Restore" (to a date well before you started
having problems) and then do a thorough virus scan.
