hi i use windows xp home.

i am having problems with logging on( before this problem,it was immediate
startup? but now it takes ages to even gain access to my log-in?).And i cant
get my system retore to find any restore points?

Alongside this, and while i was checking "Detecting and repairing
Disk-Errors" This message poped up.-"Windows was unable to do a Disk-check" i
tried it a few times but still no solution?

please help

paul.

run chkdsk while in Safe Mode!

Also, you might want to repost with question about restore points since it
wasn't in the heading of OP,

hi!

every time i try start up my pc it takes at least 5 minutes before the
screen and task bar, are visible? then when i finally get to see the start
button on the task bar,the whole screen goes blank for about 3 mins? and then
the box where i sign my password flashes up on two or three occasions(and to
gain access to my start menu it tells me to sign-in AGAIN?)

I have tried loads of times to click on a date to try all the available
Restore points, but the restore dosnt work? it just freezes the particular
box i have clicked on,and then the screen goes clear with not one item on my
desk-top visible?

then after 5 minutes i get the logging-in request "again"...on average i
have to log-on about 3 times and thats just to gain access to my desk-top
short cuts?

its driving me mad.i am a new user by the way!

I can't get into Safe Mode. I get a list of drivers, which then freezes!

Any further help would be appreciated.
