Disk Check never runs automatically

I have an NF7-S v2.0 Motherboard and AMD Barton 2500+ processor running
Windows XP Professional.. I use the NVIDIA Unified Drivers and ATI catalyst
drivers for my S80 Stealth ATI compat video card.

Even on a clean install, I noticed that if my PC locks up and the error
message pops up, it will never run a disk check when it restarts. The only
way I can get it to run the disk check is to start it manually.

I did notice 4 application popup messages in Event manager that say "Machine
check Regs " and "Machine check". This shows up immediately after I load
the NVIDIA unified drivers and always shows up if I shut down the PC. I do
not get this if I restart.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? Isn't the computer suppose
to run chkdsk if there is an error?

The computer should run chkdsk if there is an error which has resulted in it
being flagged to do so. NFTS is very much unlike FAT in that it's good at
hiding problems on the drive. While hiding the problem is good if you're not
really too concerned (I, for instance, never ever chkdsk on NTFS systems and
haven't had any issues with it thus far) but if you really want to then you
can always run it manually.

Here's a nice site for you to check out:
