How can I disable the dialup modem in XP. Whenever, I am not connected to
my home wireless LAN, a window pops up asking me for the details to dialup.
Very annoying.

I looked at My Network properties where the dial-up connection appears as
disconnected but there does not appear to be an option to "disable" it so
that nothing tries to dial-up on it.

Is there a way to disable it?

Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager. Expand the modem category
and right-click on your modem - choose "Disable".

A less drastic measure would be to go to Control Panel>Internet
Properties>Connections and click the radio button for "Never dial a
connection".

Thank you. I chose the latter.
