Disconnect and reconnect printer

I need to disconnect and reconnect the printer to my new NEC notebook on
various occasions. What is the recommended procedure? Should I shut down the
computer before disconnecting or reconnecting?

Simply turn-off the power to the printer,
then disconnect the printer cable from
your PC.
