disc cleanup

my computer will not run the disc clean up or defrag. it
said that i only have 2% free space but since I have
deleted many things it still shows that and freezes when
i try cleanup. help!!

What version of Windows? Not Windows XP unless you are posting with a
different computer to that with the problems!

How large is your hard disk and how much free space? Is the hard disk
partitioned?

how do i find out how large my hd is and how much free
space is left?

also if i go to controll panel then free up space on hard
disk... it won't do anything. no new windows come up or

To see what is on your hard drive you need to change a number of settings.
Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings, and
check "Show hidden files and folders". Whilst there uncheck "Hide File
Extensions". Also check "Display the contents of system folders". Then in
Windows Explorer right click on your C drive and select Properties. Do this
for each drive / partition.
