while doing a disc clean up when it gets to the part where its cleaning out
compress old files i get a message from windows file protection saying
files that are required for windows to run properly have been replaced by
unreconized versions to maintain system stability windows must restore the
original version of these files.
and it wants me to insert windows xp disc. which i dont have i purchaced the
computer used and already loaded with windows xp professional. what has
caused this to hapen and what can i do to fix it.

When you purchase a used computer the very first thing you do is erase
the hard disk and reinstall all the software from scratch. That's the
only way to know that the computer is free from infection and
misconfiguration and that all the software is legitimate.

The person who sold you the computer should include with it installation
media (CDs and DVDs) for all the software installed on the computer at
the time you bought it - that's part of what you're paying for. Looks
like that didn't happen in your case.

Have you been using a registry cleaner?

What is the computer make and model?

Hope this helps.
