Disappearing Messages

when a new message arrives in Inbox, after I open it then
close it, it disappears and I cannot find it in any of my
folders, nor in the deleted items folder.
If I attempt to move a message marked "read" from a
different folder to the Inbox, it disappears. However, if
the message is marked "unread" it stays until, fo course I
open it and close it.
The point seems to be that no message marked "read" remains
in Inbox.
There is a setting somewhere that is controlling this
behavior and I haven't been able to find it.
Any help is appreciated.

Your view is probably set to Unread Messages. Right click on the toolbar
area and enable the advanced toolbar. See what is shown in the dropdown
window for your view. Change it to all messages.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
