Disappearing Hover Buttons, FP 2000

What can I do to restore hover buttons?
I recently updated this page http://members.cox.net/wgander/MyBoat.htm and
the hover buttons disappear as the page appears on your screen; they are
next to Projects: at the middle and bottom of the screen. They always worked
before and they work on my PC. I've uploaded and refreshed the page several
times and FP Extensions has been reactivated.
(My ISP allows FP and FTP, but offers no help on FP. My ISP hasn't changed
anything, and neither have I.)
WinXP Home, Sp2 and FrontPage 2000

XP SP2 does not have Java Virtual Machine installed, which is required for Hover buttons.
It must be manually downloaded and installed from Sun Java.

For this reason, most folks have stopped using Hover Buttons.

Don't ftp if your using fpse.
make a new hover button save the page and then delete it this will remake
your class files which are probably missing.
Hover buttons can't been seen by search engines so make sure you have text
links also and also for those that can't see the hover buttons due to using
a screen reader or having scripts turned off in the browser.. they also take
ages to download and frequently mess up .... consider text links instead.

Thanks to both of you for the prompt posts and information.
I used Hover Buttons only because they looked nice, so I'll use another way
to link to those pages.
The site is my personal web space, and those pages reached by the Hover
Buttons did not have to be accessed directly; I'm not concerned about a
Search Engine being able to find them.
I am concerned about slow downloads, as some of the intended viewers use
dial up.

In this particular case, the path to the fphover.class file is corrupt
<applet code="fphover.class" codebase="../" width="120" height="24">

Does not contain the path to fphover.class which is the file that makes them work.

Instal javascript from java.com. It is a free download and once installed
you will see all your web components. This happened to me at the beginning
and it works fine now. Good Luck.

You don't install JavaScript from Java.com. JavaScript and Java are *not*
related.
Besides, it has nothing to do with the problem. See Steve Easton's reply.

In that case don't use hover buttons ... they take forever to load .. you
can have exactly the same effects with css you know and not half the
problems or load times and have an accessible site ..

see http://e-lusion.com/design/menu/#5 there are many others just google.
