disappearing folders

i created a folder on outlook to store emails from a specific sender and one
day the folder disappeared with all its contents. i tried searching for it
but it is no where on my system. this has never happened before
 
Version of Outlook?
Email environment (POP3, Exchange, HTTP, etc.)?

Are you filtering views? Did you accidentally drag it to your Deleted Items
folder? If so, if you haven't emptied Deleted Items check for it as a
subfolder there.

Please advise.
