disappearing files

When I tried to move a directory, I got a message saying
that I could not because some files were used by another
program, so I closed everything and try again. This time I
had a message saying that some files already existed at
the destination, so I selected the overwrite them, but
now, the destination folder is empty ( 0 bytes) and the
source is gone.... how do I get back my files?????
I found similar problems on the net, but no solution....

This might work:

but not certain as it works for deleted files rather than 'clobbered' files.

Here are some file recovery utilities. Sorry I don't know what happened
to your files. Don't use your computer until you try one of these
recovery programs to minimize the chance that the data is overwritten:
