Disappearing files from CD-R

I had burned some folders and files to a CD-R to transfer to another
machine. Everything copied over fine. Later I needed to copy them again
(did something stupid, don't ask) and one of the folders copied over empty.
I checked the CD itself and the folder was empty there as well. I know the
files were there and that I had successfully gotten them on my first run. I
thought that once a CD was burned it was permanent (well, for many years,
anyway). Is it possible that some could have "evaporated"??

Hi,

A lot depends on the burning method used. If a packet writing software is
used, then you can easily overwrite existing files and folders.
