Disappearing contacts file sub folders

Somehow I ended up with multiple Contacts folders. Before I did anything I
saved a copy of my .pst file.
Under my original Contacts folders I had 5 or 6 sub folders.
I deleted one of the contacts folders. While I can still see my original
contact folder data (contact list) I can't see any of the 5 or 6 sub folders.
I then restored my .pst file back to my original but I still can't see these
sub folders.
Hopefully all the data is still there but I don't understand why these
subfolders no longer show up. Any ideas??

You've provided no clear information. Outlook version, the view you are
referring to, how you "copied" your PST and what you did with it, how your
"restored" your PST would be the minimum for someone to get started on this.
Don't assume we know what you did. You haven't told us.

I'm using Microsoft Office 2007 suite and windows XP.
The "view" that I'm referring to is what I see when I select "Contacts" and
at the top left of the screen there is a heading of "My Contacts". Right now
I see three folders:
Contacts in Personal Folders
Contacts
Contacts in Personal Folders.
Prior to this problem I was seeing my other 5 or 6 Contacts folders like:
Business & Doctors
Christmas Card List
etc. etc.
I no longer see any of these folders.
So far as backing up my .pst file. I simply did a copy and save so I ended
up with a file named "Copy of outlook.pst".
To restore, I simply renamed the file to "outlook.pst".

I'm very sorry I asked.
You have posted an indecipherable maze with an unlimited number of possible
problems. I doubt this knot can be unraveled within the limitations of a
newsgroup post. You must now explain the following:
1. Copying a PST file correctly does not create a second file with the name
"Copy of outlook.pst." What did you actually do to "back up" this file?
2. How did you connect this "copy" to Outlook? The only correct way to do so
is to open that file from an open profile of Outlook using File > Open >
Outlook data file..."
3. Never rename an Outlook PST file. That is simply a guarantee that Outlook
can no longer connect to that file correctly and that whatever profile was
using that file is now corrupt. Why did you do that and was there an Outlook
profile already connected to this file when you did so?
4. Have you used Folder List view to examine your entire folder hierarchy?
That is the only view that can display all of your folders and is the only
way for you to know which folders still exist in your PST file.
5. Do you keep careful backups of your data?

I used Folder List view and all of my folders are there. I now have all my
data back but still have duplicate contacts files. For now, I'm just happy to
be back in business.
RE 1 - I did a right click "copy" and right click "paste" to create the copy
of the .pst file.
RE 2 - I did nothing I simply renamed the file and opened outlook. It
automatically picked up the new file named "outlook.pst".
RE 4 - See above.
RE 5 - Yes - I do a disk clone once a week.

Um, no, at least not without affecting the mail profile in adverse ways.
