I have a very complex and large database (45 tables, I stopped counting the
number of queries at 400, and my relationships page looks like macramé) that
I've made from scratch. I've made all sorts of reports, forms, and queries
almost always using design view and by writing VB code myself... and yet I'm
completely clueless as to why I have this problem. I'm using Access 2003 but
saving things in Access 2000 file format.

What actually happens is I open a query that has a subdatasheet, yet no
subdatasheet appears, I have even checked the property in design view and
it's empty. Then I close the query and open it again and the subdatasheet
works perfectly and appears in the properties properly. The subdatasheet
appears literally every other time I open the query. This happens for
several of my queries and it is beyond frustrating.

I've already tried setting the subdatasheet properties when they don't
appear but after being saved the problem persists.

I've checked this site and not found questions about this and I'm wondering
it I'm having this issue because the complexity of my database. But I have
trouble believing that because this issue has only appeared in the last month
or so and I haven't done anything but enter data and make a few new,
non-related, queries. I also know that the standard fix for subdatasheet
issues is to use a form instead, but I really don't want to do that due to
the complexity of my query and the fact that my subdatasheets are all nested
many levels deep and I know that writing the code to force a form (and
subforms) to do what I want will take a very long time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

simple, don't use the subdatasheet feature, it is what my scottish friends
would label *shaitt*.
A proper app should be built around forms

sorry for the tell off
