Disallowed Parent Path ASP

M

Mettá

Hi

I know this has come up before but I cannot find the solution for an old
site that is now hosted on Win2k3 server that will not allow parent paths
hence

The Include file '../_fpclass/fpdblib.inc' cannot contain '..' to indicate
the parent directory.

Thanks
M

The URL Scan built-in to Win2K3 will need some refiguring?

You'll need to search for the URL scan documentation on the MS website/kb.

Hmm, maybe I could have said, I don't control the server, the hosting

If your Provider is not willing to allow Parent path you will have to
use a relative path from the root instead or an absolute path.

The include statement is in the gray colored code, so I'm thinking maybe he
can change it. Also, this article says: "To resolve this problem without
changing the application:", so I'm assuming he can make a change.

Matt

I had similar issues with shared hosting where I could not resolve
server paths... an asp page that I was trying to get to work needed the
parent path to a directory.

I tried calling tech support and they said they couldn't determine it
(maybe couldn't give it to me or didn't want to).

Anyway, I looked into a different solution to help me upload files to
the server and found that the following free download asp script
package actually did the work for me.(upload the files AND show me the
parent path's)

http://www.logintools.com/fileuploader/

Download the folder that contains the solution and drop it into a
folder with privileges on your shared hosting directory.

When you open the default page for the solution and use it to navigate
to a directory on your site, it actually resolves the parent directory
for you in the URL window on your browser.

Sounds like alot of work... but when I couldn't get the answer from my
hosting company... I found by chance that this did it for me. Really
only took less than a minute to download, copy to the server, open the
default page and there it was... felt kinda sneaky after... but it
works...

Thanks for the help...

I have tried to replace all ../ with virtual path but because of DRW content
it will not let me replace one of them..

So
<!--#include file="_fpclass/
becomes
<!--#include virtual="/folder/_fpclass/

It helps, in that I no longer get a page error but the db content fails!

One refuses to be replaced...

.....WasTableFormat="FALSE" b-ReplaceDatabaseRegion="FALSE" --><!--#include
file="_fpclass/fpdblib.inc"-->

I have tried opening as FPtext and in notepad but it always gets
overwritten!

Any suggestions other than hand coding?
