disabling windows on port 445 causes it not to map network drives

After I did the following:
Now I cannot map any other netwoirk drive anymore... any way to
disable local 445 but yet retain the ability to map other's drives?

Sure. An IPSec Policy can do just that. For example, the IPSec RPC Blocker v2.1 available here

has a template to block inbound only access to UDP/TCP 135+445, UDP 137+138 and TCP 139. The
tool was developed to block the Blaster worm. It has an easy undo feature if simple and
effective is not what you want.
