Disabling the Auto run feature on CD

Gentlemen and Ladies,

Quick question here, I know it's possible but honestly I
forgot which key, there is a feature in Windows 2000 for
this.

When you insert a CD there is usually an auto-run/play
feature, I am looking for the way to disable it. Doesn't
have to be permanently it could just be on a use to use
basis.

On a per case basis hold down shift key when CD is inserted.

On ongoing basis
