disabling system restore

Doug

I have a 120 GB harddrive, with 78GB free, and the drive
checking tool moved some files from the sytem restore
folder, in an attempt to recover info from bad sectors,
and after doing a couple said no more disk space is
available to complete the task. (Had this happen with ME
also last year, and new where to disable sys restore
after being advised by Microsoft support personnel).

Where do I disable sys-restore in windows xp-pro to get
rid of the folders, or better yet, is there a way to
remove only certain folders from the sys restore folder??

Thanks for the help....in advance :)

Click Start, All programs, Accessories, System tools, System Restore, System
Restore Settings, Turn off System Restore on all drives.
Apply & OK,
Back at the Desktop,
Reboot.

To disable system restore, goto the control panel with full administrative
rights and open System. One tab is devoted to system restore, allowing you
to turn it off or limit how much disk space it uses.

Thank you both.....so I guess I cannot just delete
certain folders, which leaves me with 2 choices: control
the amount of disk space and maybe the task i mentioned
can then have room to complete.....or......turn off SR on
all drives and reboot which eradicates all the present
folders. Am I correct on this?

Thanks again...

It has been my experience that the folders remain - but are empty when SR is turned off.
