Disabling Multiple Monitors

I want to have my CRT monitor display exactly the same desktop view as my
laptop monitor. Windows seems to default to an odd display in which the
desktop is extended to my CRT screen and I can move my mouse between the two
monitors. I've searched for hours, but can find no way of turning off this
feature and using the F8 key to toggle between laptop/CRT/both, as has always
been the case.

How do I disable the "multiple monitors" feature and return to a single view?

if your driver does not support mirroring (thats whats its called) displays
you will
have to download ultramon

www.ultramon.com that adds this and many other features

This is something controlled by the display driver. "Extended desktop" is
what you're using now - spreading the desktop out across two monitors.
"Cloned desktop" - where the desktop is duplicated on the extra monitor -is
another option and very common on laptops. If the setting is not in Display
Properties> Advanced, check to see if there's an extra control panel applet
for your laptop hardware. If supported by your drivers, the setting may be
in there instead of Display properties.
