Disabling macro warnings

Guest

Hi
Is there any way of disabling the warning ' The document you are opening contains macros. Some macros may contain harmful viruses ... and the enable/disable macro prompts?

I have several tables each paste linked as pictures from 7 individual excel workbooks to a single word doc.

Every time I open the doc all the workbook macro warning prompts come up one after the other.

Is thre any way I can set this word document to enable all the excel macros automatically without the annoying manual warning prompts?

TIA

Pete

IMHO, either you have signed macros or you changed the level of macro
security in Excel to Low.
BTW, this is not a Word setting, but an Excel thing.

Hi Pete,

You can modify your Macro Security level but this is not document specific. IOW, you will disable it for all files you open. You may want to consider the bigger annoyance, a macro virus or clicking a button. ;-)

What you may want to do is look into SelfCert. This will allow you to sign your own documents/workbooks and trust their content which will suppress the macro warning messages for the specific files.

Search for SelfCert or Digital Signatures in Help to see if this is available for the version of Office you are using.

You might find it under Start/Programs/Microsoft Office/Microsoft Office Tools if it is already installed, but again, this capability depends on your version of Office.

What is your security level?
Do you have any add-ins? (Tools > Templates and add-ins, lower portion of
the dialog box. What do you see listed there?)

Bonjour Jean-Guy et merci but as with most brits I'll feel more comfortable
if I continue in English!

Security level is "High".
The message box header is "Microsoft Visual Basic".
Document template is "normal".
Under Global Templates and Add-ins the checked boxes are Dicatation.dot and
NavNC.dot. Unticked are msword8.dot and navmswordnlu.dot

Salut et encore merci.

Jolly good then! English it is!

My guess is that either Dicatation.dot or NavNC.dot (or both!) are trying to
run some code when Word loads. Since your security is set to high and that
these are not recognized as safe sources, their macros are disabled. Try
moving one of these file at the time and starting Word. See which one
triggers the macro warning. Also, I think that under 2003 there is a setting
in the security dialog that allows you to tell Word to trust all files in
the start up folder (i.e Installed add-ins).

Set the security level to medium, which will give you the opportunity to
choose whether to allow macros. DO NOT set the security to low!

You can set from the same dialog the option to trust all installed templates
and add-ins, which will remove the prompt in relation to the add-ins;
however I don't immediately recognise the two unticked add-ins, so be sure
you know what they are. Research suggests that they are probably connected
with voice recognition software. They may even be called by the two ticked
add-ins and unticked may be their normal state.
