disabling Indexing Service

Many people recommend disabling Windows Indexing Service for better
performance. I did this long ago but noticed that (though the service is
already disabled in Administrative Tools/Services and Applications/Services)
when I click on a disc partition's properties, the box for "Allow indexing
service to index ......." is selected.

Does that matter? If I unselect it, and apply, windows changes a lot of
settings. Were they redundant anyway? Did it matter?

Thanks.

Jeff

If you do not use indexing service then you should uncheck the tick box and
disable the service as this will 1 speed up your systems performance and will
also speed up the computers boot time.
