disabling a process at startup

Is there any way to change what processes automatically
begin when windows loads? Better yet, can you change
which processes automatically begin to be different for
each account on a computer?

TYPO Bob meant msconfig

Clicking 'Run' on the start up list,
type 'mscofig' (without quotes) in the box;
uncheck anything in the "Startup" list you do not
want loade but use some caution of course.
You can also uncheck in "Services"
