Disabled Task Manager

P

Paul

In XP when I try to open the task manager it comes up
with the message 'Task Manager has been disabled by your
administrator'. Also, from the start menu, I don't have
the option to 'Turn off the computer', only 'Log off'. I
used to be able to do both of these functions and can't
understand what has changed.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

If you're using XP Pro, as it sounds like you are, you may have logged in as
an administator and inadvertantly set some things in the control panel
(users section proably) that you shouldn't. Log on with full administrator
access and in the control panel try to find where user limations or
restrictions have been set.

Hope this helps.
