Go to Control Panel, System, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, Settings. In
the System Startup section, click Edit. In BOOT.INI, add /SOS to the entry
that loads XP.

Anyone have any ideas on how to disable a splash screen on startup? I've
looked in msconfig but can't find it.
