Disable Outlook mail

Brian

Hi,

Is there any way to disable user access to the email
function in Outlook 2000 and still allow them to use the
Calendar and Contacts?

We have a no Outlook email policy on our domain and since
we don't have an exchange server set up (just pop 3 from
an outside source) we can't monitor all of the executables
and scripts that come in via email, so we don't use
Outlook mail.

Thanks

Hi Brian,

If you update your Outlook 2000 to Service Pack 3 Outlook will block scripts
and executables as a secure default already. You can set additional policies
as well by using the the Office Resource Kit and policies; no Exchange
server required! Also in the Preview Pane no code execution is allowed. This
makes Outlook very safe to use in your environment as well.

Tips of the month:
-Setting Permissions on a Mailbox
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Yea. Just don't define an Email account.

Hi,

Thanks for the tips; they've all been very helpful. We
have our Office setup over the network using the
administrative installation routine and have already
updated to service pack 3. I've worked with the Office
resource kit to roll out Office on application terminal
servers, but I'm not sure if I can get it to work on our
network installation, but I'll try.

Thanks again,
Brian
