Disable file sharing on Vista Premium

I have a laptop and i cant turn off file sharing in the Control Panel /
Network and Internet / Network and Sharing Center.

File Sharing ON seems to be the default setting.
The tick for turning off file sharing is grayed out so cant be selected.
I dont want or need to share files on my network.

Please advise a solution.

Windows Vista Premium
HP DV6000t laptop

Sounds like your Firewall might be preventing you from doing so, temporarily
turn it off and try applying the settings again.
