Disable F7 key in XP

Is it possible to disable the F7 key from within windows XP.

We have a third party application that we wish to prevent the F7
behaviour

I have tried to press my F7 key in XP Pro, and nothing happens, this tells me
that it is NOT XP that set this function key, it is another app. What happens
when you press the F7 Key? Are you using a Multimedia keyboard? It is
possible to set keys within these.
