Hello,
Does anyone know the group policy setting to disable right
clicking on the desktop, clicking new , and then choosing
shortcut? I need to disable this because shortcuts can be
created to areas that access should be denied.
Thanks, I appreciated any replies.

Try using user configuration/administrative templates/Windows Components/Windows
Explorer - disable context menu. Read the description of what it does and it may
help you out. --- Steve

Why not tighten up the permissions so that the users in question can't
access the areas they are not supposed to?

What you are suggesting is like closing the curtains on your house for
security but leaving the front door wide open.

Stopping them creating a shortcut does not stop them from getting the
shortcut another way (eg Other users emailing it to them etc.)

Andy.
