Disable AutoUpdate on Date Fields

Everytime somebody sends me a document, and if they used the wrong field
(they used the autoupdate date field), is there any way to globally turn off
the auto updates? I know that I can go in for each document, delete the old
date field and click CreateDate, but how can I do this for all documents that
are sent to me without having to go into each document that is sent to me?

No. You have no control over the behaviour of the sender: they might
*intend* the current date (unlikely, but feasible: MS must have had
*something* in mind when they introduced the benighted DATE field).

To follow up on Jezebel's line of thinking, you might educate the senders
about how to use a CREATEDATE field instead of a DATE field.
