Disable auto screen show presentation mode?

Whenever I launch a PowerPoint file that is saved to the web, it
automatically opens in screen show mode and will not allow me to see it in
edit mode with slide sorter. This started happening about the time I
downloaded IE7, could it be something within the browser settings? I am now
running Office Suite 2003. I know a work around is to save the ppt first
then open it, but I've never had this problem before.
