Dirkey is a small utility that enables you to define bookmarks for folders
and go back to these bookmarked folders from within File Open/Save dialogs
and Windows Explorer. You can set and go to these bookmarks using your
keyboard or your mouse. When Dirkey is active you can press Ctrl+Alt+0..9
in e.g. an Open/Save File dialog and a bookmark will be set on the current
folder. You can go to any bookmarked folder by using Ctrl+0..9 in the same
or another supported window. All bookmarks are global and are preserved
when you turn your computer off. You can also open bookmarked folders in a
new Explorer window.

This is, indeed, very small--and very handy. And thus far, working very
well on my system. Thanks!

Melpomene was a substantial girl, thick of bosom, ankle, and forearm, rosy
of cheek, and clear of eye. She seemed somehow incomplete without her
hockey stick. -Trevanian

Hi Allen,
what's your system?
I'm interested for Windows XP.
Thank you,

I'm using Windows XP (home) and have yet to run into a problem with it. It
makes navigating to commonly used folders a snap. It's optimal for users
who prefer to navigate using their keyboard, however. It does have a GUI
for opening favorite folders in explorer (or a different explorer/shell if
you prefer) however there appears to be no gui for accessing favorite
folders within save/open dialogs. For me, this is perfect as I use my
mouse as little as possible anyway.

Another nice bit is that it is surprisingly customizable.

And so, in my State of the my State of the Union or state my speech to the
nation, whatever you want to call it, speech to the nation I asked
Americans to give 4,000 years 4,000 hours over the next the rest of your
life of service to America. That's what I asked 4,000 hours.

I'm downloading it.
Thanks again.

My pleasure -- after you've toyed with it a bit, I'd be curios to know how
it worked for you.

I think it's quite a welcomed addition to my system--wish I'd've heard of
it sooner.

It's really amazing.
I'm reading the help and I've started using it: it is very rich of features,
customizable, a great program.
In addition, I see it uses only 1 MB of memory while sitting in the system
tray.

I think exactly the same thing.
Thanks to Klaatu to have pointed it out, and to you for your notes.

It is; it's small, fast, effective . . . really seems like it should come
pre-installed with the OS!
