Does windows update automatically prompt you to install the DirectX
security flaw? Or do you need to d/l it on your own? I heard that version
9a is exempt from this flaw. Please advise, thanks.

Only if you have Automatic Update turned on, which I only recommended
you turn on, if you like playing "Russian Roulette" with your computer,
beta testing MS's patches
