Directing sent messages to a particular folder

We just migrated from Lotus Notes to Outlook and one of the features people
seem to be missing is the ability to direct which folder the copy of the sent
message goes to, instead of having it automatically go to the Sent Items
folder. Anyone have any experience with this?

If I understand you correctly, you want to be able to send messages directly
to a specified folder right when they come in. I'm not sure about older
versions, but if you are using 2003, look for The Rules Wizard. Click Tools
on the menu bar, then click Rules and Alerts. You can create all sorts of
rules, like "If the message is sent high priority, put in this folder" or "If
the subject or body contain the word Payables, put it in that folder."

I was actually looking for ways to send the copy of a sent message directly
to a particualr folder. Not a new incoming message. Thanks.

That's for received messages. The OP was talking about sent messages.

In Outlook 2003, there's a rule that can do this. I don't have access to
any earlier versions to test if they have such a rule as well.

Outlook 2002 has this as well.
