Digital Image suite 10

I just bought DIS10. I take pictures of a number of people who wear
eyeglasses. Sometimes I get a glare and wonder if there is a way to reduce
this glare? If not in this program is there a program which can do this for
me.

Removing the glare would only leave a
blank space because there are no layers
in the image. The best result for me has
been to use the Clone Brush to repair the
washed out areas.

The Clone Brush is basically a copy and
paste tool.

(Find it at: Touchup / Clone Brush)

What you have to do is zoom in on the
portion of the project you wish to repair
and after adjusting your brush size, you
position the crosshair (cursor) on an area
that has color/texture that will blend the
unwanted portion. Then you left click to (copy).

Next you place the circle (cursor) over the
damage and left click (paste).

Now you press your "e" key to reset the
tool. Copy / Paste / Reset...on and on...
until you have the blending done to your
satisfaction. It requires patience and practice
but can produce a nice result.

Testing with the folks looking a little down or to the side or both will
remove glare which is a little faster than having to edit / touchup your
photos.

I appreciate the info and will give it a try. I was thinking that I had this
capability in an editing program a few years back. I have Picture It
Publishing, Silver Edition which I have enjoyed using, but thought I'd buy
something more up to date, hence the Digital Image Suuite 10 purchase. It
seems that I clicked on the glasses and the glare was greatly reduced.

I hope this is the right thread but I too have been using PictureIT for many
years and recently upgraded to Microshade Digital Image Suite Anniversary
Edition.

One thing I really miss is the ability to paint over the main image and
create a separate layer which I can then blur, fade, etc. The MDISAE doesn't
seem to do this readily. I got it working once, quite by accident, but I
can't remember or repeat what I did.

I now find that I have to use both programmes to produce the effects that I
want.

Shame

One thing that can help sometimes when
you open a picture is to first left click the
picture and then go to...Edit / Unlock....
Then your handles will appear. If you are
saying you would like to add a second
copy of the original picture...try the following...

Once you have the picture unlocked...type...
Ctrl+D to place a second copy on top of the
original. You will see both in the stack.

Anyway...I'm not exactly sure what you are trying
to accomplish but maybe the tutorials at the
following sites will be useful.

Also...search the DIS help files for:

John, thank you for replying. Sorry I didn't acknowledge before but I've only
just seen your reply. The Notification system doesn't seem to be working -
surprise, surprise.

What I am doing is quite useful for adding colour to a specific part only of
a photo or drawing. Under PictureIt, just by painting over part of a photo, a
separate layer, containing only those brushstrokes was automatically created.
You could then move it, tilt it, fade it, etc. With Image Suite, you first
have to mark out the area using the specific tool, then go into Edit and
select Duplicate. You then get the same sort of layer markers as you used to
get with PictureIt. You can then carry on with your paint, move, etc - a bit
long-winded! I do wish manufacturers wouldn't keep 'improving' their
products! I will try the tutorials you have very kindly identified.

BTW I see that, after persuading me to buy it, MS have now ceased support on
Digital Image. Why on earth do MS, when they have actually created something
good, decide to drop it? The classic example was the Sidewinder 2 Force Feed
Joystick which, in my opinion, still is the best joystick ever made. It is
now a collector's item!

Thanks for the explanation.

The layers you mention were discontinued in
version 10. Try the following as a work around.

As I mentioned...you can layer another copy of
an image by selecting it and type Ctrl+D. Then
go to...Effects / Transparency / Even...drag the
slider to 100% / Done.

Now go to...Effects / Paintbrush / Freehand...
make a stroke on the picture / Done. Surprise...
there's your editable layer.

=======================================
I have no idea why the line was discontinued but
I see no reason why we cannot continue to use
DIS2006 for many years. As for support...DIS2006
is covered until 10/12/2010.
