Digicam causes system to reboot

I know that this is an XP newsgroup, but I have a problem. Everytime that I
hook up my digital camera up to my computer to put in pictures, the computer
restarts itself. I have an Olympus D-390 digital camera that takes the xD
picture card. I have tried using the digital camera with both USB ports on
the front of my computer and both have the same result. Is there anything
that I might be able to do to stop it.

Asus A7V333 motherboard (with BIOS version 1017)
AMD Athlon XP 2400+ overclocked to 2.2GHz

Did you install your camera ware according to the docs? Or did you just
wing it and hope for the best?

As a workaround, get yourself a usb cardreader that is compatible with
the type of memory card in your camera. Then you don't have to hook up
the camera directly and use up its battery life while you're working
with your pictures. These cardreaders aren't expensive - the one I have
was less than $30usd.

I used to have a card reader, but it quit because my Grandma's computer
shorted it out because her front USB ports were not hooked up to her
motherboard properly.

sometimes, not all the time.

Only thing I can suggest is having the camera on, in 'Picture display'
mode, before plugging in

Try plugging it into a "rear" USB port.
