OWC10.DLL is for Office 2000. Office 2003 has its own version of office web
components.

I believe that OWC 10 is a requirement for Office 2003 also

Office 2003 uses OWC11.DLL and OWCI11.DLL. Why does it also need OWC10.DLL?
I know Office 2000 and Office XP need it for Office XP Web Components, but
Office 2003 has its own version of these components, Office Web Components
2003.

I thinnk you meant OWC10.DLL is for Office XP (2002)?

Thanks, Van. But I meant OWC10.DLL is for Office 2000 *and* 2002, which is
wrong, because Office 2000 uses Msowc.dll for office web components. Each
version of Office since 2000 has had its own version of office web components.
OWC10.DLL is for Office XP.

I do not know why it tries to copy this file, but the error message relates
to not being able to copy this file. Following receipt of you message I did
uninstall an earlier version of Outlook 2002, with no success.

It looks like some of the ActiveX controls can use this file, possibly even
pivot tables and charts. That's why this file is on your CD. It's possible
the file on the CD is corrupted. If you can't copy this file directly (if
it's part of a cab file), see if you can get a good copy of the file from
your Office XP CD or someone else's computer.

AFAIK only one version of Outlook can be installed on a computer, but if you
don't have Outlook on your computer at this time, you might want to reinstall
it to see if you can also install the office XP web components from your
Office XP CD. If you do it, do a custom install to another folder.
