Different default email programmes

I set up a new user on a Windows 2000 Pro machine to have Outlook Express as
its default email client programme. When I logged in again as a different
user I found that for this user as well the default email programme had been
switched from Outlook to Outlook Express.

Is there a way different users on the same machine can be set to use
different email programmes or must every user use the same email client
programme?

Grateful for any help.

All users must use the same program as their default.

No. There can only be one default mail program for the machine.
