Our office just upgraded from Windows 2000 to Windows
XP. We noticed that in the Windows Explorer window, for
example, in the details view, some filenames are listed
in blue and some in black. I cannot figure out a
pattern. I thought that maybe "older" files were in blue
but thats not the case.....anyone out there know why?

Thanks
Christina

Compressed files are in blue. Old or rarely used files get compressed when
the disk cleanup utility is run.

By design, WinXP compresses files that do not get used frequently,
and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays those files
in blue.

In Windows Explorer, Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced
settings: Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color.
