Hi,
My company is looking into some routing software which will need SQL server
to run. Sorry if this is a dumb question but is SQL server its own OS? Like
server 2000 or 2003? Do I install it standalone or on top of an OS? If on
top does it have many conflicts with other popular software?

Either way I install should it be hosted on its own seperate PC? Or would
resources the software needs be what would dictates that?

Thanks for any help on this !!!

Matt

It's a relational database system that runs on top of a Windows server
operating system. This link may help.

Thanks,
Is ther a certain OS you could recommend to run with it? Are there some
which seem to produce more conflicts?

Should run fine on any of these. Note that you can't install it on Windows
Server 2003, Web Edition

Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
