Difference between these two PSUs?

Found an 550watt EPS power supply made by Sparkle but there are two 550watt
models and the only difference I see is that one is a combined 36amps on the
12v line and the other has an 18amp 12v line for CPU and another 18amp 12v
line for I/O.

FSP550-60PLG (recommended by Tyan)
FSP550-60PLN (separate 12v supplies)

http://www.sparklepower.com/proPCPS_EPS.html

Are there any other differences I should know about? Does it matter which of
these two models I get? This is for a Tyan Thunder K8W S2885 mainboard.
http://www.tyan.com/products/html/thunderk8w.html This is a dual Opteron
mainboard with an AGP Pro slot. PSU connectors are a 24pin, 8pin and 6pin.

I didn't find much through Google describing any detail about either supply,
nor a comparison of the two, or even any kind of benchmark testing.

I have to order the PSU tomorrow morning so any advice would be appreciated!

As far as I know, that MB does not require the split +12v. So, I'd
go with the -60PLG. Better yet would be the TC510XE/EPS12V at
PC Power & Cooling. It's recommended specifically for that MB.

Why not order the one Tyan recommends?

Here is a better spec sheet for the -60PLN, compare it to your
intended board's power connector pinout to determine if it's
compatible.

(Fortron and Sparkle both produce many of the same models if all
are not available in your region)

I wasn't sure why the split 12v was there as I haven't seen it used
anywhere. I'm not sure why there'd be a difference except to keep the CPU
12v cleaner.

The FSP550-60PLG was recommended by Tyan and it's the one I'd prefer, but my
supplier only identified the supply as a 550 watt Sparkle EPS so I'm not
sure which he's bringing in.

Supplier says he's got the "Sparkle 550watt EPS supply". So it could be one
or the other. Unless the connectors are different either should work, but
that's just an assumption on my part.

I did get a LOT of hits for the Forton version, but didn't want to assume
that they'd be the same. Still didn't see much describing any differences in
operation other than the separated 12v supplies.

Thanks!

Yes, they're both similar enough in function, _IF_ the power
plugs are the same, compatible with that Tyan board (I don't know
if they are) then either should work.

I'd be a bit concerned about your supplier though, if they can't
even determine the model # of the part.

FWIW, I saw that Tyan's PSU recommendations include a
FSP460-60PFN-EPS... It does have the split, dual 12v rails,
essentially differs in that it has fewer 12V amps but more 5V/3V
compared to FSP550-60PLN.
