What is the difference between the commands group and regroup. Frequently,
they are both options. If I can regroup something, why not just group it
again?

If you ungroup a group of items to edit one of them and you want to group
them again, you only need to select one of the items, then use the re-group
command. It will regroup the original selection of items.

In order to use the Group command you must select 2 or more objects.

Regroup allows to to regroup the last ungrouped collection of objects
without having to reselect the objects in that group.
