Didn't work

The file I am trying to install is Scansoft Realspeak.msi. When I did what
you said, I received the message: "The Windows Installer Service could not
be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode or if
the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support
personell for assistacnce." Any other suggestions?

This can also happen if an uninstall has not completed, and the installer
program is stuck trying to finish. Is there anything you've tried to
uninstall recently?
